Torre a Cenaia, Ancient Pitti Estate

The Osteria Agricola Toscana Pitti & Friends is part of the vast farm estate Torre a Cenaia.

With its 500 hectares of fields, woods, lakes and old farmhouses, it is a little world away from the frenetic rhythms of urban life, in which producing organic wine and agricultural craft beer.

The village, which is its heart, was the birthplace of the last heir of the famous Florentine noble family of Pitti, the Count Robert Pitti Ferrandi (1923-2000).

Descendant of the collateral branch of the family, originated from Ferrando Pitti who fled to Corsica at the end of the fifteenth century after the disastrous outcome of the Pazzi Conspiracy, with his father he donated to the estate its most important heritage: the viticulture and the name “Cenaja Ancient Pitti’s property “with the family coat of arms.

Son of Pauline de Bearn (1890-1991), a descendant of the Counts Valery, and Charles Pitti Ferrandi (1877-1951), Count Robert was a man of great elegance, with many interests in art and culture, as well as an important figure in the world of finance and international diplomacy.

Just name Pitti and they instantly evoke the atmosphere of Florence at the Renaissance time and its views that attract every day thousands of tourists from all over around the world, but also glimpses of history that have made big Tuscany and Italy. Pitti is still synonymous with elegance and culture: although it was born almost by accident in the fifties, when the Pitti Palace hosted the first fashion shows, the link with the style and elegance typical of Made in Italy is the most warned echo of the ancient dynasty’s name.

The Osteria Agricola Pitti & Friends is proud of its name, with which it wants to pay tribute to the figure of the Count and the glorious history of his ancestors. At Tower a Cenaia, said Robert Pitti Ferrandi, “I spent my childhood and adolescence, leading away with me many happy memories, when, with much regret, we moved to France after having sold the estate.”
